Wow, times flies...Sidney is already 8 1/2 months old. We've all but forgotten his long journey in the NICU, now it just seems like he's always been right at home with us the whole time. He's quite a match for Jeremy and I; he likes to sleep in, he laughs at Jer's jokes, he loves to be outside in the beautiful sunshine. He's perfect! :) We love him more everyday. He brings so much life into our lives. I couldn't imagine a world without him.
It's a BOY!

He's Now 7 Months Old! Whow, Time has FLOWN!
Sidney turned 7 months old on Feb3rd. The time has serious flown. He's grown so much and has really changed from the 6.5 lb baby we brought home from the hospital back in October. He's learning something new everyday. I couldn't be happier that my wonderful husband (and excellent daddy!) is at home with him every day. I know that Sidney is getting the best care and attention he could possibly get. :)

Quick Update on Sid's Height and Weight
So Sidney went to his scheduled 6th month Well Baby exam with his pediatrician this past week. The doctor is amazed at his growth so far. Since Sidney was born, he's been tracked on a height/weight scale for other babies his age (actual age, not gestational). Up until now, he's been well below the 10% range, more like 1% to 5%. Meaning, he was only larger than 1-5% of other babies his same age. We knew this was going to be the case since he was born nearly 4 months early. How could he possibly be the same size as other babies born at full term? We never were concerned that he was so below the line. WELL...at this visit, he weighed in at 16lbs and measured 25" in length...he's finally above the 10th percentile! This is BIG news...he's growing so fast, that soon enough he'll be caught up to other babies his age. It's amazing how his body is working in hyperdrive to catch up. We're so proud of him.
This week we've even started him on eating brown rice cereal and today we tried peaches. It's taking him a little time to get used to the spoon instead of his bottle, but he's picking up the process pretty quickly. :)

Grandma and Grandpa Frazier Come for a Visit!
My mom and dad came for a week to visit our little bundle of joy. This was the first time they had seen him since he was only a few days old. It was really like seeing him for the first time. I was really happy to see my parents be able to hold him and interact with him. Sidney is such a ham, he loves the attention he was getting all week. Here are some shots from this past week...

Two Days Shy of 6 Months Old!!
On January 3rd, our little Sidney will be 6 months old. Wow, how time has flown! It's hard to believe that he spent his first 3 1/2 months of life in the NICU. To us, it seems like he's always been home with us.
He's really a joy...he's getting to be so much fun lately. He's way more active than before, giggling like crazy, and still growing like a weed. Sidney is now close to (if not already) 15lbs! He's steadily gaining nearly a pound a week. Our pediatrician told us that his growth spurt is because his body is trying to catch up with other 6 month olds. He projects that he'll be caught up before his 2nd birthday. It's amazing how the human body works.
Sidney got his first cold the week before last. He was miserable. He had serious issues with his breathing and had Jeremy and I on the edge of our seats as to what to do to help him. I made an appt with the lung doctor immediately. He was put on Prednisone and Abuterol. I hated giving him the steriod (Prednisone), but it seemed to make him better. After several miserable days of constant crying and hundreds of nose suctions, Sidney made it through his first illness with flying colors.
Sidney has a new thing that he does now...sucks his thumb. Unbelieveably, Sid is teething already. He's drooling like crazy and chewing on his arm like it's a piece of meat. LOL. The thumbsucking seems to calm him down. I don't like it, but if it makes him happy, for now I'll let it go. :)

Santa's Little Helper
A little elf stopped by the house yesterday to see how we were doing with our Christmas decorations. He wasn't impressed when he saw that we didn't even have a tree up.

Our Little Ham
So Sidney is a smiling machine now. He loves to smile and when he does, it lights up his entire face. He makes everyone else smile as well. What a beautiful little boy...we're so lucky to be his parents. :)

Wow, I'm Really Slacking!
Sorry everyone for being such a slacker on Sid's blog. It's been over a month since my last post. Here's an update on our little guy...
Sidney is encroaching on 12lbs, if he's not already there yet. This little bugger is growing SO fast. It was only a few short months ago while he was in the NICU that he was in the 5th percentile for his weight. He's now in the 75th percentile! He's 22 inches long too...he's grown over 10 inches since he was born. What an accomplishment.
He surprises us every day. Just last week, he started smiling and laughing. It's like it happened with a snap of the fingers. He just decided that he wanted to start smiling all of a sudden. Hey, I'm not complaining. :) He's got the cutest smile I've ever seen...it's one of those whole face smiles. He beams from ear to ear.
He's wanting to crawl sooo badly. He gets frustrated cause he doesn't get anywhere. LOL. It's so adorable. He kicks and kicks, but goes nowhere. That's when the crying ensues...but it's just so cute to watch.
We've been taking Sidney for walks around the neighborhood since he doesn't really get out much as a result of being in isolation per doctor's orders. He seems to really like the walks. The fresh air is probably good for him since he's stuck in the house all day.
Jeremy's mom came for a visit the week of Thanksgiving, it was really nice to have some family "re-meet" Sidney. It was like seeing him for the first time...he's so different than when she saw him when he was just born. Granny Stevens had a chance to have some special moments with her first grandchild.

Home Nearly 3 Weeks Now...
Well, Sidney's been home for nearly three weeks now. Sorry it's taken me ages to post, but it's been a whirlwind lately. It's definitely a lifestyle change when you have a baby. Your whole daily routine gets thrown out the window. We now live on Sidney's schedule: sleep very little during the day, totally awake at night. He's a handful only because he seems to be hungry 24/7, ravenously hungry. He really only cries when he wants a bottle, but it seems like he always wants a bottle. He's an eater, that's for sure.
So far he's seen three doctors: pediatrician, eye doctor, and pulmonologist. His eyes are stable (great to hear) and he's steadily gaining weight. As of last Wednesday, our little man is 8lbs 3oz and 19 3/4 inches in length. In a week, he had put on an additional 10oz and grown an astonishing inch and a quarter. He's definitely going thru the growth spurt that the nurses in the NICU told us about. Being at home in a quiet and loving environment is really doing him wonders.
Speaking of the NICU, for those of you that didn't know...Celine Dion had her twins in the hospital that I had Sid in, St Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL. Her two boys were delivered early via C-Section. We've read that they were in incubators and now suddenly they were released only a few days later? I find that hard to believe...they would have been in the NICU for longer than that just for light therapy for jaundice. Jeremy and I think that she probably has her own staff of doctors and nurses at her home in Jupiter, FL taking care of the babies.
Ok, that was a little off subject, back to the main man Sidney. :)
We went to the Pulmonologist this past week. We've been closely monitoring Sid's oxygen levels via monitors and such since he's come home. If his saturation levels were high, we would turn his O2 down and vice versa. Well, there were times where his levels were steadily high enough that we would just shut off the O2 tank entirely. We mentioned this to the doctor and he suggested that we continue to try to ween him off the oxygen and just "spot check" him with the monitors. Jer and I didn't like the "spot checking" idea, so we've kept him on the monitors, just in case. Well, Sid went over two whole days with his O2 off, so yesterday we decided to take off his nasal cannulla entirely. What a big step. :) We were finally able to actually see our baby's face. You get accustomed to seeing him with the cannulla, it becomes part of him and to now have it off, it's like we had a totally different baby. He's absolutely adorable. It's such a relief and a great feeling to know that we're almost there. Almost to the point where Sidney can be a normal baby.
Vaccines on Monday...oi! It's going to be a very scary day. :(

First Pediatrician Visit
Sidney's first pediatrician visit was this afternoon. We were highly anticipating what his weight gain would be. When he left the NICU, he weighed 6lbs 9oz. One week later he weighs...*drumroll please*...7lbs 9oz!! Wow, he gained a whole pound in only one week. He also grew an inch in length. He seriously never ceases to amaze me and his daddy. He's doing so well since he's come home. Being able to sleep in complete silence and for as long as he wants has really done wonders for him. He's really thriving. The nurses in the NICU told us this would happen...the atmosphere of the hospital isn't conducive to growing naturally, it's too noisy and he consistantly had bright flourescent lighting on him.
Next Wednesday, Sidney goes in for his first set of immunizations...it's gonna be scary. He's still on oxygen, so I hope it doesn't cause him to have breathing issues. Keep him in your thoughts.

Sidney has a little friend, Taylor, who is still in the NICU. It's possible that she may be having surgery soon to help her breathe better. She's been in the NICU since the day after Sid was born. Her wonderful parents want her to come home so badly, this surgery should be the ticket to get her there. Please keep this little angel and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this tough next week.
One Week Down...The Rest of Our Lives to Go :)
It's officially been one week since we brought Sid home. He's adjusting so well. Although, he HATES his bassinet. Refuses to sleep in it, I'm thinking it's because he can't see out and feels too confined in there. So after many attempts at getting him to sleep in there, we resorted to letting him sleep where he sleeps best...the changing pad. LOL Yeah, crazy I know, but it seemed like every time we put him on there for a diaper change, he would fall fast asleep. So we decided to take the changing pad off of the changing table and put it on the floor. He seems to really like it. Here's to hoping he'll sleep in his crib one day. *fingers crossed*
We're still having lots of sleepy days because of his monitors...but on a good note, he seems to be doing really well with us lowering his oxygen levels. We've even taken him off of the oxygen entirely for 15 mins at a time. I'm hoping this is a sign that he will be coming off of it soon and will be able to be hose and wire free. Oh to have a baby that can leave the confines of his bedroom! :) Soon...
